What Wood Species Screams ‘UK’ for Woodworking?

Hey everyone! I'm a woodworker based in the US, and I'm working on framing some posters of my favorite UK band. As I build the frames, I'm curious if there's a wood species that really embodies the UK vibe. In the American Midwest, I mostly use red oak, hard maple, and American walnut. I've come across a few species like Manchester Poplar and upland birch, but I'm looking for more UK-specific recommendations, especially something that grows in the north of the UK. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

If you're looking for something lighter, consider English brown oak or Sycamore. Sycamore has a beautiful ripple effect and can be really striking, almost like a white color. Definitely worth checking out!

Both seem amazing! That ripple on Sycamore is beautiful. Thanks for the suggestion!

English Oak is your best bet! It's like the classic choice for UK woodworking. Plus, the grain patterns are just gorgeous!

Totally agree, the grain is stunning! 🙂
