Hey everyone! I recently started removing the caulk from the seams in my shower because it was getting pretty gross. As I pulled out the first strip, I discovered some goo, water, and even a bit of black mold hiding behind the panels. I'm wondering if it's enough to just dry everything out and re-caulk, or do I need to take the panels off entirely to fix this? Really appreciate any advice! Oh, and just to clarify, I meant caulk, not grout in my initial post!

It's tough to give a definite answer without seeing the damage first. Usually, if the caulk has failed, water can seep behind the panels and lead to mold growth. You'll need to assess the extent of the damage by removing the panels. So, yeah, it'll likely require a closer look to determine the next steps.
Yeah, you definitely need to peel off those panels to really assess the situation. Don’t worry, most panels can be reinstalled unless they’ve been seriously damaged. Just take your time and be careful when you remove them. If worse comes to worst, you might need new panels, but it's not always a must!
