Accidentally Watered Plants with Diluted Rubbing Alcohol – What Now?

I accidentally watered my four balcony plants with a mix of water and diluted rubbing alcohol. I usually use an empty bottle that previously contained 76% rubbing alcohol, but I mistakenly refilled it with water and then used it for watering. Now, I'm worried because the plants are leaking water, and I can still faintly smell alcohol in the runoff. Should I keep adding more water to dilute it further, or is that risky? What should I do?

It sounds like the best idea is to keep flushing your plants with water to dilute the alcohol. Just do it gradually and don't drown them in the process. Alcohol can be harmful in larger concentrations, so the more water you can get through them, the better. Just keep an eye on their health over the next few days. They might be okay if you acted quickly!

Yeah, but just be cautious about overwatering them. They can suffer in their own way, even from too much water!

Honestly, it sounds like a bit of a mess, but they might be resilient! If they're cheap plants and you’ve done your best to flush them, keep an eye on them. If they don't look good after a few days, you can always replace them. Sometimes plants bounce back in surprising ways!

That’s true! They were pretty inexpensive. I guess I’ll see how they do in the next few days.

And seriously, think about getting a proper watering can! A mistake like this could happen again if you're not careful. But for now, just let them be and give them time. Too much fussing might stress them out more!

Haha, right? A juice bottle is definitely not the way to go for watering plants!
