Hey everyone! I recently had some work done around an outlet in my closet, and now I can't plug anything into it. It looks like something plastic is blocking the way, and no matter how much I wiggle my plugs, they won't go in. I'm starting to wonder if this was some kind of cruel joke by the contractor because everything seemed fine until I asked for a drill hole for this outlet. Has anyone dealt with this before? How can I get the blockage out and fix the issue?

The issue might just be that the contractor wasn't very skilled and may have moved your outlet around instead of properly fixing it. If it's a new outlet, those tamper-resistant types can be a pain. Also, check the prongs of your plugs to make sure they're not bent. Posting a picture could help others give you better advice on what to do next.
You're definitely dealing with a tamper-resistant outlet. They can be super annoying; they’re designed to keep kids safe, but they can also be tricky for adults too! If you can’t fix it with the wiggle method, it could just be a faulty outlet. If it doesn’t get better, you might want to consider replacing it with a non-tamper resistant one, especially if you don’t have kids around.
It sounds like you might be dealing with a tamper-resistant outlet, which are pretty common these days. Those have little plastic shutters that only open if you apply pressure to both prongs at the same time. Try gently rocking your plug back and forth while pushing it in and see if that works!
Thank you! After rocking gently for 5 minutes, then trying a bit harder for just 1 minute, it finally went in. I'm really sorry for doubting the handyman now.

Thanks for the advice! I did manage to get it plugged in, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind for the future.
