Hi everyone! We're in the process of removing our 25-year-old Ash Tree because it's grown quite large and is too close to the neighbor's house. We'd love to replace it with something that can provide privacy, just like the Ash did, but ideally, we'd want a tree that doesn't grow as tall. We're not interested in evergreen shrubs and we're feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options out there. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

If your Ash Tree isn't affected by ash dieback, it might be worth considering pruning it instead of completely removing it. You could take down some of the larger branches that hang over your neighbor’s place. If you do still choose to replace it, just keep in mind that any new tree will take a while to grow back to a privacy-providing size.
How about an ornamental pear? They’re really beautiful and could be a great fit for what you're looking for!
Thanks, that does look beautiful!

No, it hasn't got ash dieback yet, but several arborists said it’s quite close to the neighbor, and if the disease hits, we’d have to remove it anyway. It’s really a shame! The roots are a concern, and there's a lot of overhang. But I appreciate your thoughts on pruning!
