What Specs Should I Look for in a Charge Controller for a DIY RV Solar Generator?

I'm planning to build a solar generator for my RV to power the AC when I'm off-grid. I'm considering using three 100Ah 12V batteries and would like to know what charge controllers and inverters might work best for this setup. Ideally, I want to charge the batteries using solar power within 6-8 hours. Any recommendations or specs I should consider?

When designing your system, it's important to base it on what your specific loads will be. Find out how much power the AC consumes and determine how often you plan to run it—this will give you a daily kWh requirement. With that number, you can estimate both the battery capacity you'll need and the solar panel size necessary to run your loads and recharge overnight usage. For instance, if you plan to draw from 300Ah at 13V, you're looking at needing around 3.9kWh to recharge, which translates to roughly 800W of solar panels on a clear day, optimized for sunlight.

Thanks for that info! I'm definitely taking notes and will figure out my daily power needs.
