Experiences with Mounting a Ring Doorbell on a Front Door?

Hey everyone! I'm about to install a battery-powered Ring doorbell (the latest model) but I'm in a bit of a bind. My HOA has a rule that prohibits mounting it on the wall, so it has to go directly on my front door. I have an impact-rated door, but I'm concerned about several things: Will screwing it into the door compromise its integrity? I'm particularly worried about potential water damage if the screws come loose, especially in windy weather where it could catch a lot of force. Anyone facing similar issues?

The screws that come with the Ring are pretty small, so I'd suggest putting a dab of silicone on them. It’ll help seal them up for a long time and prevent any water issues. Using some household glue could work too!

Appreciate the tip, thanks! ?

Just a heads up, when you use the included screws, it doesn’t sit flush against the door. You might end up needing to caulk around the top and sides. Alternatively, you could try using 3M VHB double-sided tape to avoid drilling any holes in the door.

That’s disappointing, but I’ll look into the tape option. I thought it would sit flush based on the images too.

Honestly, I wouldn’t stress too much about it. Just make sure to seal those screw holes, and you'll be good. But fair warning: I’ve been really frustrated with the battery life. Feels like I’m always charging the thing!

Yeah, I've heard the battery life isn’t great. I don’t plan on using it to record since I usually have my headphones on, just want notifications when someone rings the bell. Hopefully it lasts! If not, I’ll just grab an extra battery for quick swaps.
