How Can I Fix a Tile Leak on a Budget?

I'm dealing with a frustrating leak from my bathroom tiles that's damaging my downstairs neighbor's ceiling. A plumber checked and said the plumbing is fine—it's definitely the tiles. Despite my best efforts to keep things dry while showering, water keeps seeping through. I can't afford a complete bathroom remodel, so I'm wondering if there's a way to waterproof over existing tiles. I've seen warnings online against this method, but I don't quite get why it's an issue. Has anyone successfully done it, or do you have any budget-friendly suggestions for fixing this problem? Thanks for your help! ?

Unfortunately, there's no easy fix here. If you're seeing a leak in your pan, you're going to need to replace at least the bottom of your shower. It's not really a budget-friendly solution, but it's important to address the source of the leak to prevent further damage.

One option is to dig out all the grout and replace it with epoxy. That can create a better seal and help with waterproofing. You might want to consider using polyurethane for any expansion joints too. It won't be a full fix, but it could help minimize further leaks.
