Hey everyone! I'm considering some siding options for my 3,900 sq ft house in Minneapolis. My contractor has given me a quote of $13.50 per square foot for LP Smart Siding and $14 for Hardie Siding. Does this sound like a reasonable quote, or should I be looking for something better? I'm leaning towards the Hardie siding but want to make an informed decision!

Honestly, those prices seem a bit on the high side, especially if you're talking about 39 squares of siding. In reality, house square footage and siding squares are different concepts, so if you really mean 39 squares, that's around $40k for LP siding. As a general contractor in the Twin Cities, I can say LP tends to perform better than Hardie due to fewer butt joints and easier handling. Just giving my two cents!
I also think LP can be a better choice, but I’d double-check those quotes. If you’re worried about moisture, though, keep LP's vulnerabilities in mind—we can always compare warranties and see which option feels safer for your area!

Thanks for the insight! I’ve heard LP can be prone to moisture issues. I’ll definitely dig deeper into warranties.
