Why Is the Freud LM74R Saw Blade Recommended for Only 1″ Cuts?

I noticed that the Freud LM74R Industrial Glue Line Rip Saw Blades specify they're only suitable for cuts up to 1 inch. I found this while looking at the product page, and I'm curious about the reason behind this limitation. If anyone's used this blade, can it handle cutting thicker materials like 5/4 or 8/4? My guess is that it might be due to the blade overheating. Any insights? Thanks!

The 1-inch limit is basically to ensure you get that flat 'glue line' cut that this blade is designed for. However, I've used it for ripping 8/4 material without any problems. It's definitely a heavy-duty blade!

The recommendation for 1 inch is because the blade has TCG (triple chip grind) teeth that create a nice flat cut, which can increase resistance if you go thicker. I usually have this blade in my saw, and while I've ripped over 1 inch without issues (using a SawStop cabinet saw), you might not have the same results with different setups. Also, check out this article on saw blades for a better understanding!
