Is It Too Late to Mow the Grass Before Winter?

Asked By GreenThumbs42 On

I'm dealing with some continuous rain right now, but my grass just keeps on growing! I'm hoping to get one last nice cut in before the winter really settles in. Is it okay to mow the grass when it's wet? What's the best approach here?

I feel you on this! My lawn is looking like a jungle too, and I really want to get it sorted before winter. Waiting for those dry spells seems like our best bet!

Totally! Plus, it gives the grass a chance to dry out a bit before we tackle it.

For sure! It'll be worth the wait for that nice, even cut.

If your grass is still growing, it's perfectly fine to give it a mow. Here where I am, I expect my last cut might be in October. There are warmer days ahead, so waiting until it dries out a bit seems like a smart move!

That's reassuring to hear! I was worried it might be too late.

Yeah, just keep an eye on the forecast. A sunny spell could do wonders!

It's definitely not too late to mow! Just keep an eye on the weather and wait for a dry day or two. The grass will still be there waiting for you. You might want to check around Friday or Saturday for the best conditions for cutting.

Exactly! A dry day makes all the difference for a clean cut.

Also true! I just mowed mine on Sunday and managed one last cut before winter set in.
