Should I Keep Plumbing When Removing a Shower for a Half Bath?

I'm a new homeowner and I'm planning to convert a full bathroom into a half bath. I want to keep the sink and toilet, but I'm looking to completely remove the shower due to issues with mold and dampness. My question is whether I should leave the in-wall plumbing connections in place, just in case a future buyer wants to reinstall a shower later. Any advice would be appreciated! 🙂

Honestly, instead of going through the hassle of removing the shower, maybe just try to use it less or improve the venting? You could save yourself time and money. Plus, if you ever sell, having that shower could be a selling point, and it might seem suspicious to buyers if they see it was removed. Just a thought! Good luck!

Pulling out the shower might drop your property's value between $10k to $20k, depending on where you live. If you're set on removing it, make sure to cap the plumbing off neatly in the walls and close it up. I’ve done it when moving a sink before, and just leaving enough pipe for future work is definitely the way to go.

Thanks for confirming! It’s definitely a bummer about the value drop, but the current setup isn't working for me.
