I work at a machine shop where we receive long pine boxes containing metal rods. These boxes usually measure about 13 to 15 ft long, 6 to 7 inches wide, and are 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick, featuring a light-colored straight pine. After they cut the boxes up, they typically just toss the wood. I'm considering taking the wood apart for resale as reclaimed wood, but I'm uncertain about its value and whether it's worth the effort. Should I just post it on Facebook as reclaimed pine, or is there a better platform or community for selling it?

Honestly, reclaiming pine boards might not be the best use of your time. The wood market is flooded with pine, so unless you find a niche, you may end up disappointed. Many experienced woodworkers are aware of lumber pricing and typically won't want to put in the extra work to reclaim it from basic pine boards.
I’ve been reclaiming pallets for a while now, and while it can be rewarding, it really depends on the type of wood. Pine is pretty common, so it may be a tough sell. If you do decide to go for it, I recommend using a circular saw instead of prying nails out. You lose some length but save a ton of labor, and smaller boards can still have their uses in projects.
Thanks for that tip! It sounds like a lot of work for maybe not much return, especially with the limited quantity I have.

That's what I'm worried about! I’d hate to deal with no-shows and all the hassle if it’s not going to be worth it.
