What Flowers Should I Grow for a Late May Wedding?

Hey fellow gardeners! I'm a novice but super excited about working on my garden for my wedding next year in late May. I'm hoping to grow some beautiful flowers for bud vases, focusing on a more wildflower style with plenty of whites, pinks, and oranges. I've already thought of adding oxeye daisies and gypsophila to my list. Does anyone have recommendations for other flowers that will bloom in late May? Also, any tips on when to plant these, whether I should start them indoors, and other care instructions would be awesome! We're located in East Anglia and I'm totally open to using pots, planters, or flower beds. Thanks a million!

Consider adding Geum ‘Totally Tangerine’ to your list; those should flower nicely in late May! Just be sure to check if the seeds or plants are available now. It’s up to you whether to buy an established plant or start from seed—each has its perks!

Wow, these sound lovely! Do you have a preference for starting from seed or just going with the already established plants from the garden center?

For late May blooms, I’d definitely suggest considering planting cornflowers, nigella (also known as love-in-a-mist), calendula for that bright orange pop, and if you get them sown early, cosmos can be beautiful as well. Sweet peas not only look great in small vases but they are really nice for cutting too! Most of these can be started indoors around March or April and then planted outside after the frost risks are gone. If you're looking for a sure thing, buying established perennials like geums or hardy geraniums from your local garden center might be a good bet, so you'll know they’ll be in flower for your big day!
