I'm looking to repurpose some old hardcover books by making their spines weatherproof to display them on a Little Free Library box. I want to know if there's an epoxy or any kind of hardening/weatherproofing solution I can use to soak or coat the books before cutting off their spines with a table saw. Alternatively, I could craft them from wood, but that would be quite time-consuming as I want each spine to look unique. Any tips on making old books suitable for outdoor use?

Epoxy is probably your best bet for long-lasting weatherproofing. I've also had success using waterproofing spray, like the kind made for shoes, which can protect paper and fabric, including heavy gloss paper. So that's definitely something to consider!
