Hey everyone! I'm dealing with a bit of a situation here. My bedroom shares a wall with my housemate's bathroom—specifically, their sink and toilet. They're a night owl and a pretty heavy drinker, so their late-night bathroom visits can get really loud, to the point where I've been woken up by the noise of them using the toilet. I'm looking for effective ways to soundproof my bedroom to reduce all this noise. Any suggestions?

Yeah, earplugs are a solid option if you haven’t tried them yet.
Honestly, if you want a quick fix, the best option might just be to move out! I’ve tried soundproofing before, and the cheaper methods did almost nothing, while the more effective solutions could end up costing a fortune and require a lot of renovations. If moving isn’t an option, I’d say start with earplugs or maybe a noise-canceling fan to drown out the sounds.
You could try using foam or silicone earplugs. They work pretty well for blocking out noise, and if you also get a desk fan, it can provide some white noise that helps mask those bathroom sounds. Give it a little time, and you might just tune out that noise altogether like I did when I lived next to a bus stop!
