Struggling to Keep Plants Alive: Any Simple Tips for a Busy Parent?

Asked By BusyBee123 On

I'm a busy parent with three kids and a lot on my plate—between cooking, caring for pets, and running around after my toddlers, I just can't seem to remember to water my plants! I try to follow the care instructions but it feels like I end up killing every plant I get. Can anyone give me some beginner-friendly recommendations for plants that are hard to kill, along with some tips to help me remember to care for them?

You can't go wrong with snake plants! They're super forgiving and practically thrive on neglect. I often forget to water mine, yet it keeps growing! I also got a moisture meter that really helps—I just poke it into the soil once a week to check if it needs water. Keep it simple!

Definitely agree on the snake plant! They're almost impossible to kill. If you're looking for something else, pothos plants are great because they droop dramatically when they need water. This can help remind you, plus they can survive with less attention. Just set a weekly alarm on your phone for watering, and you'll be good to go!

I understand where you're coming from! Instead of focusing on regular watering, try watering based on the weight of the pot. When it feels light, it’s time for a drink. You can also start with smaller plants on your windowsills, making it easier to incorporate them into your daily routine without adding too much stress. And don’t forget, it’s okay to experiment and find what works best for you!
