Why Aren’t My Aster and Cherry Tomato Seeds Germinating?

Hey everyone! I'm seeking some help here. I've been trying to grow Aster and Cherry Tomato seeds for about a month now, but no luck with germination. I've got the soil nice and moist and they get some morning sunlight from 7 am to 9:30 am. I planted them about 1/8 inches deep. My regular tomato plant is thriving, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with these. I thought these plants would be easier to grow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First off, how old are your seeds? Soil temperature can also play a role. Just a heads-up, once they do germinate, they'll need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily since both Asters and Cherry Tomatoes love full sun!

I bought the seeds in August, so I think they were new, but I'm not sure how old they actually are.

You know, tomatoes don't really need light to start germinating; they just need warmth and moisture. A neat trick is to put them in a ziplock bag with a damp paper towel until you see little root nubs, then pot them. As for Asters, they usually need the right conditions too, but I've found that Cherry Tomato seeds are pretty consistent with other tomato varieties in terms of germination.

That sounds interesting! Should I try the same method with my Asters? We have a pretty cold climate here, but all my other tomato seeds have popped up quickly.

Hey there! Just wondering where you're located; it might not be the best time to start seeds in your area. When I'm having a tough time getting seeds to sprout, I soak them overnight before planting and keep the soil as warm as I can.
