Hey everyone! I don't exactly 'hate' bees and wasps, but I have a pretty strong physical reaction to them—nothing allergic, just a fear that I know is irrational. I really love growing flowers though, so I'm wondering how much of an issue this fear is going to be for me. Any tips on how to deal with this?

Honestly, I have bees and wasps buzzing around my plants all the time, and they don’t bother me. We’ve sort of come to an agreement—they just do their thing, and I do mine! And believe it or not, they actually do a lot of good for your garden.
Knowledge is key! I used to be terrified of spiders and snakes, but once I learned about them, I got over that fear. Bees will only sting if they're provoked, and wasps are just trying to survive. I have a wasp problem near my house too, but they’ve never bothered me while I’m gardening. Just give them some space, and you'll be fine!
I totally hear you! I always wear long sleeves, pants, gloves, and a hat while outside to avoid insects touching me. At first, it was odd when yellowjackets buzzed around, but now I'm used to it. It’s kind of like exposure therapy—once you're around them enough, it’s not as scary anymore!
Facing your fears can help! Bees, wasps, and even spiders can be really beautiful when you look closely. I used to be terrified of them, but now I actually enjoy observing them with my camera. It’s all about taking your time and being mindful when you’re in your garden. Just remember, it’s okay if you accidentally walk through a spider web or step on a bee; it happens!

That’s such solid advice! Guess I need to pick up a book about these little creatures and learn more.
