I'm dealing with a bathroom fan that just won't stop running. It's connected to my oil furnace fan, which is also continuously on. My suspicion is that there might be a wiring issue, possibly at the switch. For instance, switching off the furnace breaker stops the furnace but not the bathroom fan; however, turning off the furnace also turns off both fans. When I unplug the bathroom fan, the furnace fan keeps going, suggesting the issue is at the switch or wiring. To complicate things, the bathroom lights flicker occasionally. I'm looking for any advice on troubleshooting this before I call someone out.

Check if there’s a switch near your thermostat that controls the bathroom fan. Sometimes the fan is meant to run with the furnace as a primary venting system. If there’s such a switch, make sure it’s off!
Honestly, I advise calling an electrician. There seems to be some confusion in your description, and electrical work is not a place for mistakes. Better safe than sorry!
It's probably best to call in a pro for this one. Electrical issues can be tricky and you don’t want to mess with wiring unless you know what you’re doing. Better to be safe than sorry!
Totally understand! I'm just trying to gather some ideas before I go that route. If there are any simple checks I could do first, I'm all in.
This situation might be dangerous since you're not sure if the circuit is fully de-energized. It sounds like there could be some bad wiring or multiple breakers involved. If you really want to dig deeper, you could turn off the furnace breaker and start switching off others until the fan stops to track down where the power is coming from. Just be cautious!
Thanks for the heads up! If I take a look, I'll definitely use a voltage tester and turn off breakers. I’m okay with replacing a simple switch myself, but I know when to back off and let a pro handle it.

I did look for that, but the switch for the fan is already off. Not sure what else to try!
