Hey everyone! I recently purchased my first apartment, and I'm in need of new flooring. I'm leaning towards laminate, but to be honest, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole process. What specific questions should I consider asking the salespeople to ensure I make a smart choice? Also, I'm planning to tackle the installation myself, so any advice on that front would be super helpful too. Thanks a ton!

Congrats on the new place! I suggest doing a little research about the pros and cons of laminate flooring. Questions you might want to ask include how the laminate holds up against buckling, cleaning, and overall wear and tear. Also, if something goes wrong with one part of the laminate, what’s the fix? Unlike hardwood, where you might need to sand and stain the whole floor, what’s the process for repairs with laminate? Knowledge is your ally here, so good luck!
You might also want to consider looking into LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) as it can be a better alternative compared to laminate. It's fully waterproof and often available at similar price points, plus it's pretty easy to install too!
It's great that you're taking this step! Start by asking about their preparation process. What type of laminate are they offering? Generally, the more expensive options are better quality, so I'd recommend steering clear of the cheapest ones. Also, inquire about how they plan to remove your existing floor and whether they will level the subfloor before installing the new one.
