I'm dealing with a tricky lighting situation in my apartment. I have three light bulbs in the kitchen, three on a fan in the dining room, and one in a small hallway, but zero in the living room. I'm looking to create four light sources above the living room with some hanging diffuse light bulbs and an LED light strip along the ceiling.
Above the living room, there's a strange open crawl space between the floor and the ceiling, which is about two feet deep and extends inward from the sides. I've got two plugs in the kitchen that lead up into this crawl space, and my plan is to plug in a surge-protected Anker power strip there, mount it in the crawl space, and then connect two additional power strips to it—one for each side of the living room. I'm thinking of plugging 2-3 hanging lamps with smart bulbs into those power strips.
Do you think this setup would be safe?

I agree, daisy chaining power strips isn't ideal. It can lead to overloads. Instead of putting power strips up there, see if you can get some LED floor lamps or wall-mounted lights that could be plugged directly into the wall sockets.
This setup sounds pretty risky to me. Mounting a power strip in a crawl space could create a fire hazard, especially if it's near any insulation or other materials that could catch fire. You might want to consider using floor lamps instead, or at least find a safer way to run your lighting without daisy-chaining power strips in tight spaces.
