Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a reliable impact wrench for personal projects. I bought a Bosch 1050H impact wrench last year, but ran into an issue since it has a 3/4" anvil, so I've been using an adapter to fit 1/2" sockets. This setup has limited my ability to tackle larger bolts, like the 36mm driveshaft nut on a Honda CR-V. Now, I'm looking at two Dewalt models: the DCF900, which comes with two 5.0 Ah batteries and a TSTAK case for about $361, and the DCF961, which is a bare tool priced at $347. I'm kind of torn between them. I'm leaning towards the DCF961 as the ultimate choice, but the DCF900 seems like a solid deal too. What do you think? Which one would you recommend and why?

I picked the DCF961 too. It's bulky but it tackles just about any bolt I throw at it. Just be careful not to over-tighten; you don't want to twist bolts off with all that torque!
The DCF900 is typically adequate for auto work, while the DCF961 is more suited for heavy-duty tasks like farm equipment. The 900 is lighter and great for daily mechanics. Just keep in mind the 961 has so much power it can sometimes damage your sockets!
Both are solid choices! It really depends on your budget. If a bit of extra cash isn't an issue, go for the DCF961. It's a beast! But if you're looking to save money and don’t plan to use it too often, the DCF900 should handle most jobs without a hitch.
I got the DCF900 on sale, and it’s been great for my vehicle maintenance. It's probably overkill for just lug nuts, but I love having the extra power. You might not need the size and weight of the DCF961, especially for home use.
You could also consider grabbing some 3/4" drive sockets. They're generally more affordable and less likely to round off, even if they’re not top quality. Just a thought!
