Can I repurpose my 2014 MacBook Pro screen with a cheap driver board?

Hey folks! My 2014 MacBook Pro met an unfortunate fate thanks to a single water drop, and it seems the motherboard is completely dead. I really loved this laptop because it handled Windows quite well and was super comfortable for my use. Since I have another laptop, I don't want to invest a ton into fixing this one. Replacing the motherboard would cost about 40-50 euros. I'm curious if there's a way to use its gorgeous 1600p screen with a compatible driver board that I could find for under 40 euros. Has anyone had success with this?

You could definitely try Googling the model of the panel to find a compatible driver board. It’s a common DIY fix, and you might be able to score something within your budget! Just make sure to check compatibility first.

Is your MacBook 13 or 15 inches? That'll help narrow down your options. If it’s 13”, there are usually more driver boards available. Plus, the price can vary a bit based on size.

Honestly, if you can't find a cheap board, it might be better to part out the laptop. You could sell the screen, RAM, and battery separately, but be warned—most of this stuff is proprietary, and the RAM and CPU are soldered, which can make selling them trickier. Just a thought!
