My partner and I are new homeowners and have been facing an issue with water pooling beneath our house. After the last rainy season, we noticed that the whole backyard, including the pool deck, slopes toward a corner right by our foundation. I found a clogged drain spout which I managed to clear out. However, even though the spout is higher than the surrounding soil, when I spray it with a hose, the dirt absorbs the water instead of directing it to the drain. I'm looking for advice on how to regrade the soil so that it slopes down toward the drain spout to prevent any further seepage under the house. Any tips on the right slope angle, necessary soil amendments, or extra drainage solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Consider installing French drains along with buried downspouts that lead away from the house. There are some great tutorials on YouTube by a guy called French Drain Man that can really help you with that setup!
One straightforward solution is to add topsoil around that area. That can help create a slope toward the drain. Also, check if you have gutters; adding them could prevent erosion and manage heavy rain better, as it seems like that's partly what caused the issue in the first place!
