Hey everyone! My wife and I are considering our options for our sewer main line. We need to either replace or reline it, starting from the clean outs, and the total length is around 80 feet. We've been given a quote of $12,600 for the entire job, which involves clearing out a lot of roots and relining the pipe. Does this price seem reasonable to you? Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I suggest getting a few more estimates—like two or three—so you can really compare prices for your area. That way, you’ll have a better idea of whether that $12,600 is on point or too high.
Honestly, I think relining might not be the best move if you have root issues. If roots are a concern, it's probably better to go for trenching and putting in new pipes. It could save you headaches down the line. You might want to try root killer treatments in the meantime to manage things while you figure out what's best for your situation.
In Southern California, that price sounds pretty reasonable, but definitely check around. Get a couple more bids just to see what the market looks like in your area; you might be surprised!

Good point! The roots are quite invasive, and we might need to consider more permanent solutions rather than just relining.
