Hey everyone! I'm an 18-year-old planning to go to community college next year. I'm really passionate about fixing up old electronics as a hobby—I've even enjoyed repairing a few iPods recently! I want to expand my knowledge on how to safely disassemble electronics without harming myself, and I'm eager to understand circuits better. My goal is to work on various types of tech safely. I'm considering taking some classes related to this, but I'm unsure which ones would be helpful. Any suggestions?

If you're really serious about repairing electronics, I’d say that practical experience is key. Look for part-time bench tech jobs in your area; those can give you real-life exposure to repairs. Academic classes might not provide enough hands-on skills unless they focus specifically on repair techniques. You might have to start with basic grunt work, but you'll build valuable skills along the way!
I think you could start by reading about how different electronic components work! I didn't have formal classes at first, but I learned a lot just by tinkering with Arduino projects and building simple circuits. It’s a great way to get hands-on experience without a formal program.

I totally get that! I think taking extra classes just for fun is a great idea, even if it’s not for your career. It can be really useful in the long run, especially since I use older tech too!
