How Can I Add Windows to My Toy Barn Without Ruining the Plywood?

Hey everyone! I recently built a cute little barn for my son's toys that can also serve as a toy bin when he's at his mom's. The structure is mostly done, but I'm a bit stuck on how to add windows before painting it, as I want to avoid messing up the plywood. I used 1/4 inch plywood for the walls, and I'd love any creative suggestions. Also, I'm debating whether to paint the inside or just stick to the outside and leave the inside as is. My girlfriend gave me the classic response of 'whatever you think is best.' So, I appreciate any advice you can share!

I think your best bet is to use a jigsaw to cut out the windows. After that, you could use a router to finish the edges nicely. If you’re worried about the plywood looking rough, you might consider cutting it like a framer would do it, then just add some trim pieces to cover the edges. That way, even if the cuts aren’t perfect, the trim will hide it and give it a clean look!

That makes sense! Since it's just for a 2-year-old's toys, I was thinking of using some 1x4 scraps for trim. Would I need to drill a hole first to get the jigsaw blade in, or can I just start cutting directly?
