I'm building a 90° trellis that will be anchored to the corner of my patio, where I want to grow vines and flowers. My wife wants the trellis to be positioned 12-18 inches off the patio, but I need some advice on how to securely fasten it down. The trellis will measure 4 ft on each side and be 3 ft tall. Although it's a light project, I want it to be stable enough that my kids can't knock it over. I've considered using rebar with threaded ends driven down into the ground for support—does anyone have thoughts on that?

If you want it really secure, I recommend using 4x4x6 ft corner posts. You should dig the holes at least 3 feet deep and fill them with quick-set concrete, similar to how you would set a fence post. This will give you a solid foundation!
