Hey everyone! I'm in the midst of a full DIY kitchen remodel, and I've reached the cabinet installation stage. I've already dealt with the demo of the old kitchen and prepped the walls, but now I'm facing a challenge: my floors and walls are uneven, making it tough to get everything properly aligned. This isn't my first project, but I want to make sure I approach this correctly. I'm looking for advice on leveling and shimming techniques to achieve a professional finish in this older home — seems like the previous renovations were far from ideal! If you have any tips, photos of your work, or cautionary tales, I'd love to hear them. Thanks a lot!

How uneven are your surfaces? For minor variances (about 3 to 10mm), self-leveling compounds work great. For larger gaps, consider using fiber re-aggregates. I’m not a pro but I've managed three kitchen installations, and this method has served me well!
One solid approach is to build out the toe kick or base box separately and get that leveled first. Once you've got that all set, just place your cabinets on top of it. This method saves you hassle with small irregularities!

The largest irregularity I’m dealing with is around 1.7 inches; how should I tackle that specifically?
