I'm trying to attach small metal shelving units for my shampoo and conditioner to my shower wall, which is made of stone tile. Since I can't use the suction cups that came with the shelves, I was wondering: how much weight can caulk actually hold? Is it strong enough for this, or would I be better off using something like Gorilla Tape instead?

Honestly, caulk will probably hold just until it decides to give out, which isn't a good bet for your shelves. I recommend considering some 3M Command bathroom products—they have hooks and mounting options that could work well without drilling. I’ve got a shower radio hanging from one of their hooks that’s been up for years without issues!
If you don’t want to deal with adhesives or potential damage to the tiles, look into getting a corner shelf with a tension rod. It won’t require any drilling or adhesive, and you won’t have to stress about whether it's going to hold. It just fits snugly in the corner of the shower!
Caulk isn't really designed to hold weight. It will stick for a while, but it can fail unexpectedly. If you're looking for something that can support your shelves, you might want to try specific adhesives instead. I personally use Loctite PL3, but just be aware that it's pretty permanent. You could also consider 3M VHB tape; it's really strong and comes in handy for jobs like this!
Yeah, I've heard good things about that tape! Definitely sounds like a more reliable option than caulk.

That's a great idea! I love 3M products; they make installing things super easy without messing up the tiles.
