What’s Up with All These Hornworms This Year?

I've been growing nightshades for the fourth year now in zone 6B, and I've never encountered hornworms until this year. Can anyone explain why I'm suddenly dealing with so many of these pests?

I think it's just a matter of luck! I only found one hornworm this year. Unfortunately, my tomatoes were devastated by leaf-footed bugs instead—I’ve never had them before, and it felt like a total crisis!

I’m thrilled to report that hornworms have avoided my garden this year! Maybe this is just one of those off years for them, and we caught a break.

I haven't spotted any hornworms this season! Typically, I find a couple every year, but it's been quiet on that front for me. Maybe they're just taking a break this year?

Same here! I haven't seen any hornworms either. But wow, the fleas have been out of control—it's like a flea invasion!
