How Can I Make My Microwave Run Without Heating?

I have a microwave where the tech removed the magnetron, transformer, and capacitor, claiming it wasn't worth replacing the transformer. Everything else in the microwave is still functional. I'm curious if there's a way to set it up to run without actually heating anything.

It sounds like you've got all the major heating components taken out, which makes it tricky. Honestly, you could probably just keep the turntable motor and light bulb operational. That way, it will still look like it's running when you press the buttons and see the light and bowl spinning without generating heat.

Are you looking to use this for a film prop? If so, then yes, you can totally set it up to look functional! Just make sure the timer/clock and any indicator lights still work, and maybe even have a fan that runs when the microwave is on, so it gives that authentic feel while not actually heating anything.

Haha, funny question! To clarify, do you want it to behave like a real microwave – showing time, turning on the internal light, and spinning stuff inside when you press START? If that’s the case, it’s definitely possible! Just set it up with those components in mind.
