Growing Full Sun Plants on a Partial Sun Patio: Tips Needed!

Asked By PlantLvr92 On

I'm in zone 8a and really want to grow some full sun plants like basil, cilantro, and tomatoes. The issue is that my patio only gets a few hours of direct sunlight each morning because of how my apartment is positioned. I'm wondering if there's a way to successfully grow these full sun plants in such conditions. Would using a grow lamp be effective? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

To mimic full sun conditions, you’ll need pretty strong grow lights positioned just a few inches above your plants. They come with reflective enclosures to maximize light efficiency, but keep in mind, that might block some natural light. If you're only using small USB LED lights, your plants may end up leggy and not perform well.
