How Can I Make One Ceiling LED Can Smart Without Rewiring?

I've got a few rooms in my house with wall dimmers that control several LED can lights. However, there's always that one can that's positioned poorly and creates annoying glare on the TV. I'd love to make this specific can remote controllable since I don't want to crawl into the attic to access it. Ideally, it would be switched off most of the time, but I need a way to turn it on occasionally without major rewiring. Any suggestions?

Have you thought about just using a smart bulb? Phillips has a bunch of options that might work for your setup.

But aren't those smart bulbs generally for screw-in bulbs? The ones here are more like the all-in-one LED can types, not really swap-able.

Plus, what happens when you flip the switch? My smart bulbs always end up turning on, which wouldn't help your situation.

Have you considered installing a pinhole trim for that can light? They create much less glare. Alternatively, a wall wash trim could adjust the light direction to minimize the glare on your TV.

That's a clever idea! I’ll check if I can find a trim that fits. It might not be smart, but reducing the glare could be a good compromise.
