Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on buying lumber from Austin Hardwoods. I already know how many board feet I need, but I'm unsure about their pricing system since they work with quarters. I'm not looking for S4S as I plan to do most of the milling myself. Also, just so you know, this lumber is for a RRCC project. I missed the class tour and would love some insights!

I’m heading over there on Tuesday! If you want, I can show you around while I’m there. I hear their selection is solid and the service is great too! They've helped me track down some less common woods by pointing out local places to find them, which is really nice.
I haven't been to Austin Hardwoods personally, but a few tips: make sure to consider common sizes like 4/4, 5/4, etc. Add some extra for waste; for example, if you need a final thickness of 1", you should look for 5/4. Also, different lumber grades matter—FAS, Select, etc. If you can, check out their racks divided by thickness and species, and don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it! Just be polite, and remember to leave everything stacked neatly when you’re done browsing!
Totally agree! Those little tips can save a lot of headaches later on. Thanks for sharing!

That’s great to hear! Always good to know the staff are helpful, especially if someone is looking for something rare. Let me know how it goes!
