What Waterproof Sheet Material Can Hold Screws for a Rainguard?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to install a rainguard on an exterior wooden door measuring 24x20 inches. I'm wondering if there's a waterproof sheet material that can effectively hold screws. I've seen marine plywood mentioned, but I'm unsure how well it holds up to prolonged rain exposure. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You might want to consider a storm door instead. If you're going the sheet route, you could secure it over the door like a fitted sheet. Attach it from the inside—staples could work well—and make sure to seal it around the frame to keep water out. Just a heads up, watch out for dampness in the door over time. If you stick with screws, use dome top screws with rubber washers underneath to properly seal the holes.

If you're asking if the material can hold screws directly, look into PVC sheets; they come in sizes like 4' x 8' and are available at big box stores. While it's not the strongest option, it's waterproof and rated for outdoor use. Just use some rubber washers with bugle-headed construction screws for a solid fit. A stainless steel screw might be best for long-term durability.

Definitely consider using a PVC sheet! It's waterproof and should hold screws just fine.
