I recently had a raised wall installed at the back of my pool, and while the front looks great with tiles, the back is a complete mess. The contractor mentioned that I didn't specify I wanted the back finished too, so it's really bumpy and unfinished. I'm looking for the best way to make it look nice. I'm thinking about painting it to improve its appearance, but I'm not sure how to start or what materials to use. Any advice would be appreciated!

You might want to start by chipping off the big lumps of cement to create a smoother surface. After that, you could paint it for a clean finish, or consider using stucco for a textured look. It’s definitely doable!
Another option could be to use matching tiles for the back, or you could try different designs with parging or stucco trowels to give it a unique flair. Just keep in mind, it’ll take some time to get it all prepped!
I would love to do something creative like that, but I'm set on finishing this myself since the contractor is long gone.

That sounds like a solid plan! If it’s too tough to chip off, maybe renting a grinder could help you out.
