Hey everyone! I'm diving into tool sharpening and I've found a potentially good deal on a used plane, but I'm looking to set up a reliable, long-term system. I plan to start with the sandpaper method for sharpening, but I'm considering upgrading to diamond plates. I noticed a lot of recommendations online focus on the Europe and USA markets, so I'm curious about what options are available here in Australia. Are there any good diamond plate systems that won't break the bank? Thanks!

I recently picked up a diamond plate from Bunnings for just $14 NZD! I also found a nice stone set that goes up to 8000 grit on Temu for around $30. I usually use the diamond plate for the heavy lifting and then finish up with the stones to get that sharp, shiny edge. It's worked great for me!

Which one did you find at Bunnings? Is it a diamond plate or a stone? I've heard mixed reviews about Temu. What should I look out for when buying there?
