How can I fix my stiff freezer drawer after spilling water in it?

I spilled some water from an ice cube tray while putting it in the freezer. The next day, the drawer slid really stiffly. I tried using a hair dryer to warm it up, and that helped at first, but it got stiff again after a few hours. What can I do to keep it sliding smoothly?

It sounds like the water got into the slide and froze. If you want a more permanent fix, consider completely emptying out the freezer, defrosting it, and wiping everything dry before plugging it back in. Keeping it dry is the key!

You can definitely go for the quick fix: melt any ice, wipe up the water, and then try using WD-40 for a bit of lubrication, just remember not to use too much. It helps with both displacing water and lubrication!

First off, make sure you get everything nice and dry. Use that hair dryer to melt the ice, then soak up all the water with a towel. It’s super important to wipe away every drop! After that, to keep it smooth, you might want to apply a little vegetable oil or cooking spray to lubricate the slides.
