I'm looking to replace my standard shower arm with a gooseneck to raise the height of my showerhead by about a foot. However, I'm not sure how the current arm is connected. It appears to be either screwed on or has some kind of other connection behind the wall, which complicates things a bit since access is limited due to tiles. I think the back of it is behind a shower surround in another bathroom. Before I start trying to remove it, I'd love some insights on what to expect during this process. I've included some photos for reference: https://imgur.com/a/EKx4p7k

The shower arm you see is typically threaded into the wall. They should be replaceable, but sometimes they're tightened really well, making them tough to remove. I'd suggest checking out a few tutorial videos to see the process in action. When you install the gooseneck, remember to use thread tape or pipe dope on the threads. And keep in mind that the whole gooseneck will turn as you tighten it, so make sure there's enough space around it.
You can pop off the cover where the arm meets the wall using a flathead screwdriver, and then you should be able to unscrew the shower arm. Just make sure to inspect that area carefully to avoid breaking anything.
