How to Deal with Aphids on Overwintering Pepper Plants?

Asked By GreenThumbGamer76 On

I've noticed aphids on my pepper plants while I'm trying to overwinter them inside. I wasn't planning to prune them this year, but now I'm wondering if pruning would help get rid of the aphids more easily. Does anyone here overwinter their pepper plants? Do you find that pruning helps with aphid control?

Mixing water with some peppermint soap really helps get rid of aphids. My pepper plants were overrun this year, but that soap did the trick for me!

Soapy water is definitely the way.

I swear by insecticidal soap! It works wonders on aphids and many other pests too, so it's definitely worth a try if you're dealing with an infestation.

You can spray the aphids off with a hose on the stream setting or even just wipe them away with a paper towel. There's no need to prune unless you really want to. Just be aware that aphids can come back, so you'll have to keep an eye on them and manually remove any that return.

I had a massive aphid problem on my fig tree this year. Just two squirts of Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle with water got rid of them right away. The next day, I just rinsed it off. Super easy solution!

Good to know! All I have is that natural Dr. Bronner’s stuff, but I’ll give it a shot!
