I'm working on an IKEA cabinet that needs to be positioned in front of a wall cleanout, and I need to cut out a section of the backer board. My goal is to create a removable panel that allows for easy access without damaging the cabinet. I'm considering options like using magnets, small hinges with a latch, or even Velcro. Has anyone dealt with this before and can offer some tips on the best way to secure the panel temporarily?

When I faced a similar situation with my kitchen sink cabinet, I ended up just cutting out the bottom part of the back and covering the rough edges with a furring strip. I fastened it with four drywall screws at the studs, so it's easy to remove when needed too. Would work great for your cleanout access!
Nice solution. Thanks for sharing!
Have you thought about using turn button fasteners? They're lightweight and simple, like those used for picture frames. You might need to create a small frame behind the panel for added support, but it could be an easy and effective way to secure the access while keeping it discreet.
This might be it! It's minimal and cheap. Just to make sure, you'll need the frame behind it for support, right?

Smart! The wood strip is a clean fix.
