What Should I Do About Unexpected Wood Blocking My Outlet Installation?

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of installing a new outlet for a bidet toilet, but I hit a snag. I found some unexpected wood behind the drywall when I tried to cut into it. I found the stud from a cutout at the bottom of the drywall and cut around it, but now there's this big piece of wood with nails sticking out. Check out the image I linked for reference: https://imgur.com/gallery/3aDSkTQ. I'm hoping to find a solution that doesn't involve repainting the wall. Any advice?

It sounds like you might want to consider moving the outlet over a bit if there's room. It could save you from needing to rework the drywall. Just make sure to check if you have enough wiring lengths to make the move.

Yeah, that's my backup plan, but it does mean I’d have to deal with some drywall repairs and painting, which I’m trying to avoid!
