I've really damaged my dining table's veneer—it got burned and is in rough shape after being left outside, with raised grain and all. I still want to use it for dining, so I'm wondering if I can sand the current veneer smooth and then add a new veneer on top of it. How difficult is this for someone who's a total newbie?
