Best Polyurethane Caulks for Sealing Garage Walls?

Asked By CraftyFox123 On

I have a leaking garage wall that's coming from an uneven concrete pad next door, and I can't relevel or remove it. I'm considering using Vulkem 116, Loctite PL, or Sika polyurethane caulks to seal the open joint between the concrete pad and the block wall. What would you all recommend? Also, I've heard from a friend that some contractors sprinkle fine sand on top of the caulking—do you think that's necessary? Looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks!

I've always gone with Sika—it’s reliable and does the job well! I haven't tried the other brands though. It's worked well for me over the years.

I've been looking into Vulkem 116 too! I got some from my work to use for a similar issue. Not much help on personal experience yet, but I'm curious about what others have to say!

I've had success with Dow 790 and Sika 2CNS for sealing gaps. Be sure to use a backer rod for better results! As for the sand, it really depends on your aesthetic preference; you don't necessarily need it unless you want that look.
