Can I Split Parallel Solar Panels at Home?

I'm trying to set up my solar panels, specifically two Zoupw EZ400 panels, in parallel and run them through a 40-foot cable to my house. The issue is, my Bluetti Apex 300 has two solar inputs that can handle each panel separately, but it can't manage them in parallel on a single input. Is there a way to split them back up when I reach my house, or do I need to run each panel separately? I'm hoping to avoid the hassle and cost of extra wiring, but I might have to bite the bullet if necessary.

Good question! The Apex 300 has a 20-amp limit for each input, so if you send the panels in parallel to one input, you could exceed that limit. In that case, the battery won’t get harmed, but you'll likely be leaving some solar output unused since it can't draw more than 20 amps. It's best to keep each panel on its own input if you can manage that.

Yeah, amps are funny like that! You're right; devices pull amps based on their needs, but definitely don’t go over the voltage limits. Also, for the EZ400, with an ISC of 11.32A, you're good feeding it in parallel without hitting the Apex's limits, just be cautious!

You can definitely put the panels in parallel, but just remember that parallel setups can be tricky with MPPTs. They don't like to see different voltages from multiple panels. If you want to split them back at your house, consider using three wires: a shared negative and two separate positives, one for each panel. That way, you can keep it efficient without running all new wires!
