Is it Safe to Use Temporary Blinds with a Silver Lining on My Windows?

I'm currently living in a rented room that has interior shutters, and I'm looking for ways to block out sunlight more effectively. I've ordered some temporary blinds from Amazon, but I'm concerned because they have a silver backing. I'm worried that using these could crack my windows. Do you think the interior shutters would protect against that, or should I be cautious about using them?

I'd actually suggest returning those blinds and just grabbing some aluminum foil from the dollar store. Tape the dull side out with some painter's tape. It's an old-school trick but works wonders! Just be mindful of the window cracking worries if you go this route too. Make sure to check!

Using oversized blackout curtains is a great alternative! They can be easy to set up and take down, which is perfect for renters. Plus, they’ll likely block out the sunlight better than temporary blinds with a silver backing. It’s a win-win!

I use a combination of blackout curtains and fleece blankets for my bedroom window, and it does wonders for blocking light—especially since my schedule is all over the place! Just double-check with your landlord about what's allowed in terms of window treatments.
