How Does the Power of a 3-Year-Old M18 Impact Driver Compare to the New M12 Fuel?

I'm curious about the power comparison between a 3-year-old M18 brushless impact driver and the latest M12 Fuel model. Is the older M18 really expected to outperform the new M12 Fuel, or are there nuances that I should be aware of?

It really varies by model. For example, the new M12 stubby is impressive for its compact size and performs well in tight spots. But generally speaking, the older M18s are stronger than the M12s, especially if we're comparing models released around the same time.

Yeah, but keep in mind that an impact driver and an impact wrench serve different purposes. It's not a direct one-to-one comparison.

Absolutely, the M18 typically packs more power. It's designed to run at a higher voltage and has a larger hammer mechanism, which gives it that extra punch. Plus, Milwaukee doesn't really market the M12 Fuel as being on the same level as the M18 tools in terms of power.
