Why Are Alocasias and Philodendrons So Popular?

I've noticed that many influencers and plant enthusiasts seem to collect tons of alocasias and philodendrons—like, why is that? No shade, since I have a few of each myself, but it feels like everyone has these big collections of similar varieties. I really appreciate plants like peperomias, begonias, and Aglaonemas, but it seems like they don't get as much attention. Am I just following the wrong people who only showcase these popular plants?

These plants are super trendy right now! Alocasias and philodendrons definitely have their moment in the spotlight, but I hope Aglaonemas get their chance to shine soon. Plus, it would be nice if they became more affordable too!

I think philodendrons, especially the climbing types, really catch people's eyes with their interesting growth patterns and shapes. They can turn into stunning displays, which is probably why they're so popular. But yeah, I get it—sometimes it feels like one or two variations are enough!
